Chief Joseph Elementary School is a strong, diverse and respectful community where we try to make learning creative and fun! We are located at 2409 N. Saratoga Street, Portland, Oregon 97217.  We serve over 250 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade. School hours are from 8:00am to 2:30pm.

Chief Joseph School was created in 1949 and was named after Chief Joseph (Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt). Chief Joseph (March 3, 1840 - September 21, 1904), was a leader of the Wal-lam-wat-kain (Wallowa) band of Nez Perce, a Native American tribe of the interior Pacific Northwest in the latter half of the 19th Century.
